Default Tail Motor ?

Hi All

I am brand new to this addictive hobby....and having a great time (even though I'm still scooting around on the ground).

This may be a dumb question....but I'll go for it anyway. I have the Axe CP, does the tail motor only spin in one direction. For example, I can only get the tail motor to spin when I move the left joystick to the right....if I push to the left, the motor does not spin.

That's normal. The motor spins to counteract the torque of the rotor spinning or to yaw right. Left yaw is created by slowing or stopping it and letting the torque turn the heli.

Okay, I'm a newbie at this as well. I just got my CP-L today and although I haven't even gotten it off the ground yet I wanted to fire it up just to make sure things did what they were supposed to do. My question is this... is the tail rotor supposed to spin as soon as the main rotor gets throttled up. From the response to the original post it looks as though it is not going to start spinning until the main rotor RPM's get higher which is the case with me. Can any of you helpful people straiten me out? Sorry if this has been covered some place else, but this seemed like an appropriate thread.

Thanks.

Right - tail doesn't kick in until almost half throttle.

BE CAREFUL IF YOUR AXE CP IS ARMED & YOU DECIDE TO MOVE IT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ROTATE IT LEFT OR RIGHT, THE RATE GYRO PICKS UP THE MOVEMENT AND ACTIVES THE TAIL MOTOR!!!

Nothing worse than a machine that BITES you BACK!!!

The tail motor works "as necessary" counteracting the torque effect. I found it more difficult to deal with and switched to the Belt CP. Too much jerking around.
