AXE CP Belt conversion question
I am installing the tail rotor belt drive conversion on my AXE CP.
My question involves the plastic separator that runs down the inside of the tail boom
to keep the belt teeth from rubbing.
The separator that came with the kit is only about 3 quarters the length of the boom. Shouldn't
it run all the way down?
Also, should it twist 90 degrees to follow the twist of the belt?
Thanks in advance.

RE: AXE CP Belt conversion question
No, the teflon separator should not run the full length of the boom. The reason is that the belt is streched at the drive gear end, such is the reason for the 2 idlers that restrain the belt on to the drive gear, eliminating the need for the separator keeping the belt teeth from touching.
Yes, the separator should be twisted 90 degrees (vertical at front, horizontal at tail), install the belt at the same time, also note the direction of the twist (holding the tail boom in your hand, front facing away, the left side of the belt loop should pull the lower end of the loop at the back), causing tail blades to turn up into the rotor wash. There should be a slight dovetail at one end of the teflon separator, that goes at the back of the tail boom.
