The wait is almost over. They have been on the water for a few weeks
Improvements over the CP-L
- 15c Electrifly BP Lipo
- Bell Hiller mixing head
- Fly bar weights to adjust cyclic rate
- Adjustable pitch range on the transmitter
- Reinforced main blades. (Bring on the Brushless motors)
- Direct Drive tail rotor
- Deans Ultra Main power connectors
- New trim scheme
This is a great machine to get your feet wet in helicopter flying and keep growing your skills.

I don't think it is junk... but the radio was the "weak link" for me. Once I replaced it the control is absolute.
I'm not sure what you'd expect for the price.
Drop the price and offer it without the Tx/Rx,
or, raise it a wee bit and offer with separates.
Probably too late to discuss this now.
BTW:Isn't there a 400 or 450 Axe coming soon which can be bought w/o radio?

Yes, I believe quality control would help, but I also think with some better engineering, better parts & electronics, they could become nice heli's to fly. I flew my upgraded Axe Cp a whopping 3 times and one of the cheap servos (forward) failed - began to whine like a baby and was locked up! Three flights! I'm throwing Hitec HS-55 servo's in it. The four in one units in these birds also leave little to be desired. I haven't messed with it since I got a CX2 for my birthday in August, as the CX2 is so much fun! I would also like to see these birds utilize a good gyro / ESC's, and a 2.4 ghz radio / reciever w brushless motors & a belt driven tail. I doubt I will ever purchase another Heli Max bird. Thinking of selling the Axe and picking up a Trex.

Comparing an Axe CP with a T-rex is not even possible. Totaly different beast. The Axe CP is a great first heli. But it is, for sure, a begginers heli. Buy it for it's cheap price and beat the crap out of it until you learn to fly. Then buy a better heli with seperates. That is what these cheap RTF helis are made for.

Well they are here and shipping out the door. Looks like the first shipment won't last long. Your LHS should have them in stock soon so go check them out.

Suite! Why don't you grab one and make a video of what they are capable of, Jason? Couldn't hurt.

hey Jason, I've got a question dude...
the CP is a decent heli, I've got the original... now, with that said, I found it too big for the living room, too small for outside (wind killed it)... why didn't ya'll look at doing something else? a 200 size heli to fly indoors? maybe something different? why keep remaking what you've done, why not grab another market?
I'm just wonderin man...

While it seems too late to discuss what some would like to see [from the Axe] it shows how these forums COULD be used to improve products both overtly and covertly.
Having said that...
The Axe line of helis thus far seem fine for a beginner. I learned (am learning) on one with no previous sim, co-ax, or FP experience.
They do offer a great value if you get one with all the GOOD parts from the factory.
Mine has good motors but a couple of servos had problems.
I was able to hover it out-of-the-box and despite the servo problem(s) have never bent a main shaft or stripped a main gear.
I never had to deal with customer service other than to replace the recalled batteries. That went smooth and I had my new batts. about 10 days after I sent the old ones.
By only offering it with the Tx and other electricals ONLY they will limit their market to beginners. Who would spend $190 and throw away the electricals?
I suspect the high cost of spares is how the product line achieves its margins. I'll leave that to the MBAs.

Bottom line: it is a great beginners CP heli.
BUT... Better quality NEVER hurts!

So for a first timer like myself who has never flown anything but has alot of land R/C experience it should be ok? I just ordered one and I hope I didnt make a mistake, I know very little about helis and my LHS wants me to buy a T-rex 450 I think, I might be wrong with the model number but it was a T-rex, I know I would destroy that during its first flight. Should I have went for the Axe EZ instead?

I had an Axe CP-L, it didnt work out of the box. There was a connector plugged in backward from the factory.
To make the long story short, I recieved a new Axe CP-V3 a week ago from Helimax, 4 battery charges later or one sunday afternoon. They are sending me a new battery and battery charger because the charge light is flashing.
If anyone wants one for a very reasonable price let me know. Its in mint condition except for the foam training gear balls.
When it was flying it did seem pretty stable at hover for such a small helo. I wont buy another Heli-max product in the near future.

Urrthling,
in defense of helimax, their MX400 isn't that bad of a bird, the parts are pretty expensive, but if you put Align parts on it, they are about half the price of helimax and it flies fine, I still fly mine, and am going to teach the girlfriend to fly it (she's not getting her mitts on my t-rex's!!)

I called about the flashing light on the 8th of October and they said they would ship a charger and battery. I called back on the 16th, hmm, apparently nothing was shipped, so he said he would have it sent 2nd day.
Recieved battery and charger on the 20th of October. Shrug
