Default Need help with Axe 400 fast.

I just bought an Axe 400 RTF. But I got it at Towerfor $275 so I am selling the radio it came with to offset the cost and am using my Dx7. I have it setup right the only thing is I am afraid to plug up the battery with the motor connected. The reason is what if my throttle needs to be reversed. Does the esc have a safety feature or will it immediately begin to spin up? What is the best way to check it without having to pull the pinion? I cant find any type of paperwork on the esc.

If I wasn't sure what was going to happen and wanted to be safe
I would take the blades off both main and tail.

Well I thought about something right after I posted. I just moved the motor over away from the gear. All went well other than the gyro really sucks.
