Soft throttle up question

I think someone posted that they had their TX set up to do a soft throttle up transition from off to idle up - they could switch idle up on and it would slowly spin up to idle up speed. Did I read that correctly, and can it be done on the 7CHP?

RE: Soft throttle up question

I think that's an ESC setting instead of a transmitter setting.

I tried it when I built the t-rex, it lasted about a day, I absolutely couldn't stand that soft startup! I thought it was cool on startup, but the problem I didn't like was when you cut the throttle, it starts slowly again.. so, when I panick, cut the throttle a touch too much, I'm stuck doing a soft start to regain the heli... I didn't like that.. but try it for yourself.

I kinda feel the same way stratcat.

I'm pretty sure the poster said they had programmed their radio that when they flipped into idle up, instead of instant head speed it would take a second or two to come up to speed - don't recall mentioning an ESC.

RE: Soft throttle up question

Soft start is a function of the ESC, not the transmitter, sorry. As for losing it in flight, if you're using a soft start, you really should switch to an idle-up curve so you can't cut it by accident.

RE: Soft throttle up question

I've got the soft start function set up on my ESC.

It only soft starts if you move the throttle SLOWLY
up.

IF, when I'm decending the heli at a fast rate and I
want to slow it down....I move the throttle up faster
and further and the motor speeds up just fine.

So basically...the slow start feature is really not a
handicap as some seem to think.

Slow start sure saves wear and tear on the main
gear and the rotor head assembly in my opinion.
