I use in my Exclusiv Modellbau Funtana Pro two HS5245 on elevators (by manufacturer sugest). One of this servo stop work. O opened top cover case and all gear is ok. The problem is with middle axle top "bearing" . See attached picture.
Same problem have also another flying buddy with same kind of servo an in same kind of plane.
I fly moderate 3D w/o snap movement.
Have you a explanation.
I bought all servos (HiTec's) from Tower Hobbies on September 28 but finish and fly my plane from March 2005.
Where I can buy top cover (HS205T) for this servo ?

I haven't seen this failure mode of these servos previously... Is it possible the elevator halve in question was exposed to a shock load, i.e., possibly bumping the elevator into something otherwise experienced as hangar rash? It’s plausible the failure is simply an indication of flight loads exceeding the ability of the servo, but I find that hard to believe as these servos are well proven. However shock loads induced to the surface and transferred to the servo have been known to cause this failure mode, typically realized after crash damage.
We have had psoriatic notices of the m/p output gear failing of this servo, but the gear axle pin boss failure unknown to me.

Hi Michael,
Thank for your response.I never crash this plane and also my landings is not hard. Funtana elevators is very lights also. In our flight site have 7 planes like this with same servo configuration. Funtana manufacturer design tail with this servos and i think his know what they do.
Another buddy report this failure to Hitec service and received a new top cover case. This servos was brought from Tower Hobbies and i don't know if them also have a 2 years warranty. I think also is a cover material failure or sub dimensioning in bearing top axle zone..Wall to thin.
Where i can order the top cover case ?

Contact your local distributor and or dealer for parts. That said Hitec RCD, USA has no obligation internationally to provide warranty parts or service outside North and South America. Your local dealer or distributor is responsible for providing warranty service. Hitec and Hitec USA are separate entities each with its own territory or service area.
Since you purchased the servos from Tower Hobbies, USA you might talk to Hitec Serve USA about replacement parts. It's possible they can provide parts if you pay shipping expenses, buts there’s no guarantee. I suspect the parts cost less locally than the charges incurred for international shipping..
