There are no factory mixes which support ailevators. Elevons and V-tail are available. You could slave ailevators with two free p-mixes I believe..

No ... and "Yes." I just made a posting in reference to this very question because the brand new (10/27/05) Eclipse 7-channel transmitter I purchased DOES have AILE as a menu option under the ACRO programming menu. I was utterly surprised to find this feature, and after calibrating it on my UCanDO-3D I called Hitec Service Department to find out if there's an update to the user manual that describes this function. The tech I spoke with told me in no uncertain terms that the Eclipse 7-channel doesn't support the function. Rather than get into a shoving match with him, I just backed out of the conversation and will wait until somebody in the supply/vendor chain gets the right information to Hitec. I have no doubt that older versions of this transmitter clearly did not support this function, but in my case the answer to your question is a, "Yes." But there's a caveat - the feature is apparently introduced, but there's not one shred of information available from the available documentation that will speak to it. I don't know what else to tell you beyond my own experience of late.

Tell me how to get the software version pulled up, and I'll respond to your question at the close of my business day tonight or first thing tomorrow morning. I don't have the transmitter close at hand right now.

Hold down the EDIT up/dn keys when powering up the Tx, use the Up or DOWN key to scroll to “VER” this will show a number. Mine shows VER 12.

Okay, that's entering the Model Select menu. Here are the listed items in their order:

M.SEL, UCAN - 30, ACRO, COPY, SFTP, PPM, TIME, REST

My airplane is the U-CAN-DO 3D, and I have the shift set "Positive" to match an Airtronics receiver. There is no "Version" indicator shown.

Suggestions??

Actually it’s "MODEL SETUP FUNCTIONS" as listed in my manual. It’s commonly referred to as the "advanced menu" while the model description MENU be it Acro/Heli/Glider is the normal setup or applicable setup menu based on the type of craft in play.

My Eclipse is not of the latest release, I suspect as you believe you have the latest and greatest offering. In this case the "VER" screen is not present, meaning you have the latest updated software revision.

Hitec Service is looking at the Ailevator function presently were not ready to praise its viability thus far. As you noted the realization of this function as well as a few others we have noted is associated with the Optic 6 firmware.

Here's my rationale for stating that the feature IS there:

1. "AILE Inh" is listed after FLPN in the functions menu, and it can be initialized by hitting the, "Inhibit/Clear" button. On doing that, the listed channels are 1,2 & 7. The feature returns to "AILE Inh" if the "Inhibit/Clear" button is depressed again.

2. Adapting the instructions from the AILE function configuration in the Optic 6 Owner's manual, I configured the elevators to track with the ailerons for R/L movements of the right stick, and the elevators work in unison (not opposed) for U/D movements of the right stick. The slave channel in the Optic is channel 6 in contrast to channel 7 in this Eclipse 7.

3. STRM adjustments can be made for channels 2 & 7 independently while on that menu setting; so, those miniscule adustments of each elevator half can be done.

4. The elevator halves track together with any "+/-" adjustments of the elevator digital trim in the normal mode of operation. I point to this as the "ultimate" indicator that this not some confusion on my part by using one of the programmable mixes. Every shred of information available is that in a programmed mix the elevator digital trim does NOT flow to the Slave servo.

So, I am comfortable in my mind that this Eclipse 7-channel transmitter does have the ailevator function, and the ONLY reason I called the Service Department at Hitec was to find if there was an errata sheet for the owners manual that somehow did not get sent in the box.

I won't beat this horse anymore because it can't go anywhere. As I stated previously, the documentation will eventually surface. In the meantime, I am overjoyed to have this beautiful transmitter WITH this particular feature.

OBTW: I personally don't beat horses; nor do I approve the beating thereof. [8D]
