Hi Michael,
One of my HS-5645's sounds like it's got sand in the gears with a gritty sound on part of the travel (at the end of travel). I have taken the top of the case yet none of the gears appears damaged. I haven't tried anything else. The servo appears to work OK and has not failed. Any ideas?
Thanks
Bruce

You will tyically get this noise with a brand new servo until it breaks in. Most likely the gear contact at the ends of the travel still is very tight which would explain your situation.
FYI: The Titanium geared servos don't wear at all so this sound is previlent (when moved by hand) even after a year of hard use. The MG gears will wear and it will go away but they will also develope slop over time.

Thanks for the feedback. An interesting point about the gears being tight. But I'll still try turning the centre gear 180 degrees on the weekend and see if that makes a difference with the gritty sound. The servo has not had any damage of which I am aware. Although, there is always the possibility of hanger damage with my planes (rapid and full transit of servo) as for some reason the control surfaces are highly attracted to door frames and other protruding furniture..
Thanks again
