Hey there,
I have a strange problem occurring with my new Ecliplse 7. After many successfull flights, my transmitter is not working propperly.
Here's the setup:
Tx - Eclipse 7 w/Spectra pack
Rx - Superslim 8ch (ch 27)
Servos - Hitec BB (came with system)
Battery - Hitec 4.8v 600mah (came with system)
Charger - Standard wall charger (came with system)
Here's the problem:
The transmitter was used for flying then the battery was allowed to drain until the LOW BAT warning. The transmitter was then charged for ~10 hours.
When the transmitter was turned on, the following problems resulted:
1) 15.5v displayed on the screen
2) Main control sticks result in no movement.
3) ALL trims and gear channel respond normally.
4) Aircraft responds with full deflection/random movements
Troubleshooting I've done:
1) Checked battery voltage on an independent tester (9.64)
2) Reset the model memory with the REST function
3) Tried a different model memory location (1->7)
4) Set the Spectra pack to one of my other rx channels (same results)
5) Pulled out hair!
6) Found you online.
Please Help.....

The best thing to do is send it in and let us check it out. Here's the info: http://www.hitecrcd.com/Support/service_and_repair.htm

I'm sure Mike can answer a lot better than me, but 15.5volts looks damagingly high, and, I would have thought, creates bleed over from one channel to another, and will cause a lot of other strange things to happen.
Could it be that the charging circuit is faulty? I bet the battery was hot!
This is one for Hitec to look at, I reckon. My experiences with their service department has been extremely good.,so I would imagine you should get a good answer from them.

I don't know if Mike would approve of this, but I have seen a few Eclipse transmitters where the module has worked very loose, so I have cut a little slot in the side of the housing, so I can get at the two channel switches without further loosening the module as I can now switch channels without removing the module.

From: st charles, MO,
My Eclipse did this same thing last night.
Has anyone determined what the problem is and what causes it? It looks like I'll have to send my Tx in to Hitec..........
However, if this is something that's going to happen again I may reconsider keeping this radio.

Hello all. Well I was hoping by the time I read down to the bottom of this forum that an answer from some had came about with the probs with the Eclipse 7. Mine is doing similarthings also. Since last fall I have managed to crash 3 planes with this radio. With my other transmitters NOTTA. Other flyers at the field never considered me to be a bad type of crashing pilot until now. It works most of the time and then right out of the blue BANG no control or response. With my other Hitecs, Lasers rock solid. It seems to be effected more on certain Freqs. that I have the module set on than others. We have one other at our field with the same TX and no probs. I think it's a deal like, if you have a good one it's good and when you don't it's not. Everything checks out on the ground and you can take off and fly mabey three or four times and than there goes the plane out of control with no response. I heard the other night from a freind in another club that has just bought a new one and he is having probs. with his also. I don't know what the deal will be about the warranty because it was bought last fall but it took this long to get an average and with winter in between with no flying. It will be hard for Tech support to find this one but will send it in as per the link above and report back here. Thanks Hooker53

I'm getting the 15.5 volt thing after reversing the polarity of the connector. I wanted to fast charge my Tx battery so I pulled the leads out of the connector so I can use alligator clips....forgot to mark them. D-OH! Anyway, this should be something that's user-serviceable...I bet it's something really easy to reset...
I'm going to pull my radio apart and see if there's anything that looks like a "reset" button........
