Default Binding two models on same TX

I picked up another receiver so I can run both my models using the same transmitter. It is a Spektrum DX3. Every time I think I'm binding one model, I will switch the other model on and its still bound to that model, even though I think I'm on the right channel. The manual doesn't clearly explain how this is done. What am I doing wrong?

Not Hitec / Multiplex products.
