yea, radio has to be on or that will happen to it. and if it still does it when your radio is on, try setting your trim on your radio for the throttle servo down or adjust the idle screw on the carb. work with the controller first! turn it counter-clockwise to lower rpm.

Try adjusting your idle. I broke mine in last week and had the same problem (as have many others if you search through the forums). Adjusting the idle needle and/or the throttle trim on your controller should take care of it.

I have just finished running the second tank of fuel thru mine today. During the first tank and a half I found it would idle erractically. Sometimes to slow and at other times, much to fast. I think that it probably is the throttle slide sticking. It seems to be freeing up quite nicely after the second tank run thru it.

the problem might also be the frequency of your radio. i am pretty sure that the stock radio is a 27 mhz which is very weak. you might be picking up radio signals (it happens to me a lot in new jersey, until i upgraded my radio). You should upgrade to a 75 mhz. And since you are a begginer, you should check out the Futaba 2ph. you can drop on the ground a million times and it will still work great, also it is easy to tune your throttle and steering pre sets.

On mine stock needle settings had me shifting into second, adjust the idle needle and then fine tune with controller idle.
