Ofna Hyper 21 8 port motors... Friends- don't do it. This is a bad motor for this truck (and IMO a subpar motor all around).
Don't take my word for it- go on Ofna's website and look on their forums. Even the moderators complain about the inconsistancy and the carburator. The mods recommend an upgraded OS carb because the stock one is junk.
If you are considering a new motor- don't get this one. Mine even runs ok, and I am telling you this. It has NO low end torque for the savage. It doesn't get on the pipe until mid RPMs... Sure you can lighten the clutch shoes, and try to get the motor to engage at higher RPM's, but why? No reason.
I am dumping my Hyper 21 8 port for an XTM 24.7 or an OS .21 RGX soon.
This is the end of my public service announcement.
Oh, anyone want a Hyper 21 8 port?

well, there's exceptions, no doubt. Mine runs good, it has good high end and mid range and it idles well. I guess I am just disappointed in the low end take off so important to monster trucks and the finnicky behavior of the carb.
That motor is known for not having much of a low end, so please tell me your setup and how you are happy with it.
I know if I lightened the clutch shoes to delay the clutch engagement, and kept tweaking and peaking it, it would be a great motor. However, compared to my Maxx 2.5!, my old XTM 24.7 and the new OS-21RG in the Mad Force, It just isn't a great truck motor, for a)low end and b)consistancy.
