Default Fuel and Oil content ??????

So what is the deal with running such low oil content in these Monster Trucks I am hearing things like 12 and 14% oil. I have been running airplanes for years (like 20 plus) and I have always used fuel with 20% oil. I would think that with the high RPM of these motors you would like a high oil content. I just broke my SAVAGE SS in with 20% nitro and 20% oil. Granted it blew alot of oil but is that really a bad thing. Please educated me on this car stuff.

Thanks

20% oil is fine.
The reason people like it a bit lower is for a little better performance, and a little less mess. Using a higher content of oil will just lube the engine more.

Default RE: Fuel and Oil content ??????

I was told at the lhs and hpi confirms it.They would like a certain % of oil to be used.I'm not sure of the number but they also say any high quality name brand nitro fuel for cars should be ok.I try to always use o'donnell 20% and though the savage forum says this has less than the advised oil content it is ok because of the high grades of oil that o'donnell uses. Personally I never knew for the longest time that a specific oil% was needed. My lhs carries different stuff at different times. If your truck is spittig oil out the exhaust it needs to be leaned at least a little.IMO I will take way more performance at the expense of a little less engine life.
