Default Savage 25 Engine

I have run about 4 gallons through my Sav. 25. Now, on any given run, when I gun it it will either take off really quick & powerful, or it will go really slow. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be?

What does the engine sound like while it's doing all of this?

I had the same problem! I put a 2 speed mantance kit in it and it works fine again. Your truck is probly getting stuck sometimes in second gear. The rebuild kit is about $10, well worth the money!

Make sure your cooling head is tight. I had a similar problem. It would run fine at lower speeds, but when I gunned it down a straight, it would start to rev really high. It turns out that the head was just loose enough to let in additional air when the engine was pumping hard. I tightened it down, and now its all better.
