you probably stripped out all your diff gears like i did, and if you lucky you stripped the diff casing.. that can cost some money to fix if you get the aluminum ones.

Get alloy diff cups and gear boxes and do the 4 spider mod and you should have bullet proof diffs. Make sure that you use the all black pinion gear and you should be ok. Also use all new bearings when you do this upgrade.

Hi,
The clicking noise isnt comming from the diff its comming from the crown gear and beval gears as they are worn or the diff case has been damaged.

All the best

I was going to post my tower wish list which from my end has all of the parts listed that you need. However once I tried it and then clicked on the link I couldn't see all of the list and what was viewable didn't have all the parts shown that you needed so I just edited this post. Anyway I'll give you a list:
86030 43t ring gear
86031 13t pinion gear (make sure it's all black and tower has been selling the new black ones)
86032 bevel gear set (you need 2 per diff cup)
b032 10x16x5mm bearing (you need 2 per diff cup)
b085 8x16x5mm bearing (you need 2 per diff cup)
85044 diff cup (2 per pack w/gaskets and plastic brake hub)
bs107 kyosho bevel shafts (6 per pack)

And if you really want to make this mod extra strong then you can do what I did and use:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...9&I=LXHCA3&P=K
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...9&I=LXESX2&P=K

I would highly recommend that you use new bearings when you do this and keep extra b032's on hand as they tend to wear out faster than the larger bearings.

Puff,

I am currently modifying my diff's as well. Just to make sure, you used 2 diff cases & 2 gear boxes? (from your above posted links.

Yes you need 2 diff cups and since I was going alloy I also got 2 gearboxes to replace the stock plastic ones. Just remember that each diff and gearbox need 4 bearings, 2 of each type.

So far I've only managed to put the alloy stuff in the rear as my lhs is out of the smaller bevel gears and I forgot to order more from tower so I'm having to wait to build the front stuff. As for what's in the rear I'm impressed so far. I immediately noticed a power difference with the alloy stuff versus the plastic, almost like the plastic components were flexing and absorbing some power. Now I barely tap the throttle and she'll stand right up on her wheelie bar. I've managed to flip her right over on her lid a few times so the power is getting down now. It will take a few gallons to judge longevity but I'm sure that it's going to hold up a good long time so I'm happy with my investment.

Puff,
What diff grease weight do you use? I ordered 3,000
How necessary are new bearings? I ordered everything on your list except I am planning on using the old bearings being that they look ok.

Believe it or not I've got vaseline in the diff with mobil synthetic grease on the ring and pinion. I thought that I'd try it and see what happened since others over at savage-central are using it with good results. I'm probably going to pack the front with the mobil and compare them when I break it back down for a checkup. Considering how much stress those bearings see I'd not go to the trouble of doing the cups then skimp on the bearings only to have them fail later. When I did it the first time I couldn't get any bearings so I was forced to reuse the ones I had and the one on the ring side failed quickly. If you're using the plastic diff cups you'll want to use machine screws to secure the ring gear to the cup as they don't back out like the self threading type does.
