I live close to ultimate hobbies and they have not sold one 4.6 yet....where are all the buyers for this great kit. Is everyone waiting for the three speed?

RE: 4.6...not selling
It's possible people are waiting for the 3 speed. I think I'm gonna wait for it myself but then again I gotta wait for my tax refund before I can get mine anyways.
BTW, does anyone happen to know if it'll work wityh the reverse mosule? If not then I'll just get the 2 speed.

RE: 4.6...not selling
The new SS 4.6 will work with all other Savage chassis and drive line parts, including (but not limited to) the up-and-comming three speed and the reverse module. The only thing that currently won't work with the 4.6 engine is the Rotostart, which will be available in April or May.
It's not surprising that Ultimate hasn't sold a 4.6 yet since as it hasn't even been out for a full week yet, let alone a full weekend. They'll sell, especially with tax refunds coming soon as thunderw0lf mentioned.
As for the three speed not being included with the new kit, not everyone's intended usage requires a three speed. Heck, some racers only run second gear with larger displacement engines! In addition, HPI will make much more money selling the three speed as a upgrade rather than as standard equipment.
Also, if HPI were to have included the new tranny, the release date for the SS 4.6 would have been pushed back to March, which would not have been a good for HPI's 1st quarter financials.

They did release the car while a lot of us are just now getting over the recoil of the holidays, and it's right before tax returns so....

I'm never going to buy one.
I mean $400+ for a truck that was barely $300 with a slightly smaller engine? NO THANKS, unless someone can justify the $100 price hike. big deal-it has a more elaborate paint job on the box.

Only a .28????? It's also got lots of hop ups already included with it. It's got a full HD driveline(HD cups and bones all around) , 4 gear diffs, stainless brake upgrade, cam type servo saver, plus all the upgrades that came with the original SS version. The HD parts and other stuff alone cost $126 if you buy them seperately.

uhhhh you may wanna actually read about all of the changes... there are quite a few more than an engine and paint.

aluminum shocks
CVD's
3 speed
aluminum clutch shoes
big deal@the tires, good@the 4 gear diffs and brakes (but IMO the stock brakes are moderately adequate)...I'll reserve my opinion of the engine until I either drive one or find out who makes it. bigger is NOT necessarily better.
and of COURSE the HD parts and chassis upgrades would be $126 alone...that's what they're banking on people saying (and remember you don't have to pay for the not-as-good parts either).I seriously doubt that the engine costs them any more than the old S25 did, too.
IMO, not worth $435 or whatever Tower's asking for it-maybe $375...I'd rather get the special edition kit w/no engine/pipe and run my .247 pro/pipe and get a nice .21 and pipe for my X-T.
