Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
I am a HPI man all the way! I have an original Nitro Rush my first nitro vehicle and a MT Racer I build from a kit with over $1000 in it and I am so please with them I now want to get a 4.6 SS Savage. I see in Tower Hobbies listing they say to run .10% to .15% fuel. Why so low as I run .20% in my Rush and MT Racer. MT Racer has an OS in it. Does any one have a 4.6 SS and run 20%?
All so other then the radio equipment is there any up grades I need to compensate for week points. Is there anything I need to know about this truck? It will not be till the end of the summer before I will be able to get one but want to find out all I can before then. Where is the best place to get one as far as price goes?
Any input will be greatly appreciated!!!

RE: Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
Prices will chnage. Most people break engines in with low % nitro, don't know why. I am using 25% on break in of mine, 20% would work fine. If you ran with 10-15% with such a large engine performance would be awful!
The 4.6 is usppose to have no weak points and so far I don't think anyone has had a problem. It is a fantastic car! Only got through 5 tanks in the break in and it's wheelieing at 1/4 throttle already! If you have some more psecific questions just ask! Remember to get a very good steering servo.
Thanks

RE: Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
Believe me I over do on servos just like on my HPI MT Racer. More is better and as stated above one of the reasons I do not do RTR, as the servos are poor at best. I think I am going to do my first FM radio on this truck. How well does the reverse work on the Savage? I know you have to get the module and a servo. The only monster truck I had was a Tamiya Terra Crusher and it was a piece of junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the input and keep it coming.[8D]

I will have my SS 4.6 on Tuesday, I was suppose to get it last week, but there was a problem with the shipping I guess.
I am so excited, I can't wait.
How is the pipe on the SS 4.6? Better then a ribbed?

I tried 10% in my Rush and after two tanks I gave the rest away. If I had to run it all the time I would get out of the hobby.

RE: Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
The Savage 25 was my first RC, and I got it in December.
This will obviously be my second.
I was running Blue THunder 20% but now I am going to be running odonnel 20% fuel in both of my trucks.

RE: Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
That’s what I run in my MT and Rush Odonnel 20%. How much torque on the servo for the steering do you and others recommend? In my MT and Rush they are 94 oz. per inch as I run 6-volt receiver hump packs. I am running Hitec HS 650 MG in both. I am sorry I should have looked at your signature and I would have seen the 4.6 was not your first. Keep pumping me up as I might get mine next week.

Reverse is OK. I had it and took it out. IMO you don't really need it. As far as the steering servo get the most torque that your wallet can handle. I like the Hitec TG5998 250oz of torque. (MONSTER). But what ever you get keep it over 150oz.

RE: Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
I just recieved this guar din the mail today: http://www.greathobbies.com/frame_index.html
I am very pleased with it, it's well built and has 3 mounting spots, instead of 2. I bought it to run on my S25, but am going to stick it on my SS 4.6.
And purchase another one for my S25.
Here's a link to different colors and stuff: http://www.greathobbies.com/frame_index.html

RE: Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
I have an question....My friend told me the tranny is already built in the 4.6 kit. Is this true? I'm getting one, but the shocks and tranny take me longer than the rest of the vehicle in most cases. I just am so careful with these. I guess the diffs take a little extra time as well (waiting on the oil to fill-up).

No, me neither?, apart from rigidity, which is not reely called for on the knuckles, money would be better spent on a tank protector

I have seen at least one picture on this form where the steering knuckle was broke in two by a wreck and I only can presume this it to help keeping this from happening. From the picture I saw it looks like these braces would have help. Not sure that is why I am asking. Will try to find the thread and post it. Being I do not have a Savage yet I can only go by pictures. I hope to find out soon myself. But as always thanks for all the comments!

RE: Questions about the Savage 4.6 SS
That brace will help in all but the most severe crashes.
I'd get the tank guard from NewEra as well they have the most durable one that I've used. Had mine now for over a year. But I did put a small crack in when it landed on it back from a 20ft drop. But it still takes a beating.
