Who has the new 3 speed?
Just wanting to know how may people have the new 3 speed? How is it working out and have you had any problems. I read the one thread about the broken off allen wrench and it exploding. Any other problems? I am thinking about getting one but I will wait till Towers get them in before I pay a ridicules price. Please give me input!

technically, that wasnt a problem with the three speed... it was the allen wrench that crapped out.

From what I read it was not the allen wrench as when the transmission came apart the piece of allen wrench was still stuck in the screw. Correct me if I am wrong. I guess there are not very many that come to this form as I have not heard back. I still will wait to hear more before I buy one. I do hope all is well with it!!!!

RE: Who has the new 3 speed?
Put new three speed in last weekend. I tried it out
last sunday and I had to do some tuning because I switched to 30%
Also had some sticky brakes but they were new also.
Anyway got the brakes working and did some tuning
although tuning could be better the darn thing was flying.
With the ported S25 nitro star and the THS pipe and
motorsaver air filter and 16/47 gear combo and the
lighter dirt bonz tires I had to do rolling starts to
keep front wheels on the ground and even at that
it would still pull them up . Heck I scratched the crap
out of my hand made bumpers. My 10 year old son
who the truck belongs too couldn't believe the difference.
We were doing wheelies in reverse also. The new reverse
module works good. I have an acre of gound to run on and
we kept running out of room. I also tried running on the street in front
of our house and when it shifted into third I backed off. AT that speed
the narrow street just isn't wide enough. I don't want to flip my sons savage
on the pavement. NExt weekend we'll find a construction site to run it.
ME personally, I get a big kick out of hearing the darn thing
shifting two times. To me that alone is worth the money.

RE: Who has the new 3 speed?
Yeah, the Collari ripped up what was a brand new SS tranny from eBay.... in 10 tanks. 8 of them were easy breakin tanks.
If it's heavier, so be it. I want it to run and run and not break. I keep my planes light, I just want my trucks to hold up when I take them out. At very least, the minor improvement in rigidity, in my mind at least, will help prevent deflection as well. The .30 is nothing like the other mills I've had.
Which (off-topic) brings up another question.... My new TVPs.... New Era Billet 4.75mm plates, or New Era Titanium 2mm plates. The titanium will be WAAAAAY lighter, and just as rigid, but will be brittle compared to aluminum, and crack easier. Can anyone here testify as to the strength of the titanium TVPs?

Frost what CB/SG are you running with your Collari .30 ? and why don't you get the extended TVP ? it will give you clean acceleration off the line as it will reduce wheelies.

I'm stuck between the two that I listed above. One set will come home, I just don't know which...
Oh yeah, I just got a few of the Ofna hardened bells... I got an 18 and a 19 to try out. I really DON'T need a deeper first gear, so the 19t may work better.

RE: Who has the new 3 speed?
Hey Frost,
I'm running with the New Era Extd TVP's on my rig. I like the Ext'ed because the truck is much more stable in the air, when compared to the stock length. But with that aside I'd go with the Al TVP's, if you do manage to put a kink in the you can hammer them straight. You can't do that with Ti.
I just put together my 3 speed tonight. I got the kit so that I could upgrade 2 of the shafts with the HPI Ti versions. I'll be running tomorrow, providing that my patch job on my PS hold up.
I'll post my review tomorrow night.[sm=bananahead.gif]

Lemme know how the 3-spd works out for you when you get a chance. I hope to have my Sav. ground-up rebuilt in a week or two.

Well I only managed to get 2 tanks through it before the PS gave out again. But with the this tranny I now have a 2 speed again. (I'm running a Collari .30, and it shifted into 2nd in just a few inches.)
I wish I could adjust the 2nd gear shift, but now it goes out 50ft before shifting into 3rd. I havn't tried to fine tune it yet, but I like when it shifts into 3rd.
Does anyone know if you can put a stiffer spring into the 2nd gear clutch?
Any way I like it!!!!
