Default xtm 24.7 engine

Has anyone had trouble running there xtm 24.7 in the cold? , keeping the temp up? I seized mine up in 34 degree weather. snapped the rod off the piston. Any pointers on this? I'm guessing the sleeve wasn't properly expanding because of the cold.

You must have been revving it before it was warmed up. You can run in cooler temps, but you HAVE to get it up to 230-260 before you start throttling it at all, and it's a good idea to keep the truck in your warm 70 degree house until you pull the starter cord, or at the very least, hit it with a hair dryer for a few minutes before hand. If you leave it in the cold garage, then pull start it and start revving it, it will break.

I about guarantee you had a high rpm "cold siezure" This is when the piston expands faster than the sleeve, and abruptly jams. You absolutely need a temp gun, and drive around easy in the cold weather until your temps get up to about 250F. You most likely will also need to wrap some metal foil, or some type of sheel metal to block airflow to the heatsink.
