Default Steel spur gear

I'm hearing different opinions about this one and wanted to get you guys take on it. Since my spur gear is shot, should I upgrade to steel? What other upgrades need to be done to a 25 LE to go along with the steel gear?

If you want to run a steel spur you will also need a hardened clutch bell. The steel spur makes short work of the stock bell. Also make sure that your mesh is right, its even more critical with the steel spur.

if ur mesh is good your spur shud last, i personally wudnt risk my tranny and wud rather replace a plastic spur for a few bucks rather than tranny parts jst my 2 cents

If you decide to go a steel spur gear, then no doubt you'll need a titanium nitrate clutch bell. I agree with podge_87. A plastic spur gear only costs like 4 or 5 bucks. A tranny gear is not only harder to replace, but costs more. On my Savage 25 I went through about 10 spur gears before I got the engine broken in. If the engine is properly broken in and the gear mesh is right, you shouldn't have no problems with it stripping or melting.
