Very poor camera work and editing.

I sat though close to 2 minutes of a shaky camera pointed a a piece of non-moving wood while hearing RC engines in the background go by.

usually when editing a video, you scrap the out-takes and string the action together...... I think you got this process in reverse

Even if you dont know how to edit, just get the cameraperson to stop recording when theres nothing happening, not much point in rolling the camera with no action. I know you dont want to miss anything but even if you give him/her a shout when to record and when to stop.
Overall about 10 seconds of decent footage from a clip that was over a minute and a half long. [X(]

Look forward to the next one.

Me too. Can it be done very easily with a HI 8 camera, or does it have to be digital?

The biggest challenge with HI-8 cameras is capturing them to digital format. Personally, I use a Hi-8 camera and a Pinnacle MovieBox Deluxe USB2. (it allows me to connect my camera, or a VCR to my computer to capture the video) it ran me $200... but I've seen it as low as $120.... digital cameras are much eaiser, because you don't have to have the extra capture device. There are several choices when it comes to video editing. I started with Windows Movie Maker..it's easy and free... and graduated to other editors as my skill level increased. I now use a combination between Pinnacle Studio 9, Sony Vegas 6, and Adobe Premier Pro.... but in all, I think I've spent more for the editing programs than I have in my Revo... LOL

I agree with all of you..however using an 11 yr old as a cameraman is not as easy as it sounds, I had windows movie maker which stopped working for what ever reason, now I use about any program I can down load..sorry the video is a waste of your time as well as mine I will try and delete it.........sorry all

I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of time, it was what 1 1/2-2 minutes?
The ending was hilarious

to be honest you dont even need to spend that much, I use a hi-8 sony handycam and transfer it to the pc using a $35 internal pci tv card.
