You will need the following :
Engine mount
Fly wheel
Clutch shoes and springs
Pilot nut
Clutch bell and bearings
Air filter
Exhaust header
Exhaust silicone coupling
Tuned pipe
you better take all those parts from your old engine but I recommend changing the clutch bell to 17 or 18 and ofcourse getting a new decent tuned pipe.

I'm looking at either this engine or the HPI K4.6. Seem to here a lot of good stuff about both, but probably more positives(because more in general) about the latter - I think mostly because it revs so high. Though here in Germany I here an awful lot of good stuff about the LRP. So which is better and why? Thanks.

RE: lrp Z.28 spec 2
I have both the LRP Z.28R spec 2 and the K4.6 and the LRP is much faster than the K4.6 , but i have to wait before I can comment on reliability as the LRP is made by SH and some old SH engines had conrod problems but apart from the conrod problems SH makes very good engines.
The LRP is also faster than the new O.S. .30 but again we have to wait and see if it's as reliable and durable as the O.S.

Is it AS straightforward a drop-in for the Savage 25 as the K4.6 would be? I'm still new, so mods are bad for me for the time being...

And rotostartable - again, without a ton of mods or extra money?... Thanks.
(You're convincing me.. This motor is available for a decent price from Tower Hobbies in the States - given their discount offers.. Not sure about customs problems though. Though the K4.6 is available here for the same price - here being Germany.)

I bought mine from Tower for $165 but now they raised the price to $180 which is strange as prices normaly go down not up unless there's a huge demand on the engine which is most probably the case.

And what about mating with a 3 speed? I'm guessing that, since the 3-speed is intended(i.e. geared) for the S25, that you have to fiddle around when mating it to a bigger engine??... And while we're at it, assuming I get this engine, what's an ideal clutch bell/spur gear combination? Thanks again..

RE: lrp Z.28 spec 2
i am fricken tired of my wasp .28. ive been looking around for another motor, preferably a stocker motor like the k4.6, but i came across the lrp z.28 spec 2 and was shocked by the power this puts out. about 10,000 less rpm but another 3/4 more hp. i too have dirtbonz tires and the 3 speed with 16/49 gears and i cant pull wheelies from a roll! i have been scared of SH motors though; from all the horror stories. as soon as i get some cash i might get this motor. and a bigger clutchbell. and a flywheel. and aluminum shoes. i already have a THS racing pipe so im covered there. and its cheaper than the k4.6

Here's an Ebay link of the SH .28 PRO which is exactly the same as the LRP Z.28R spec 2 , and much cheaper too.
