Mines not an LE, but I run the S-25 with the three speed. My gearing is 14t clutchbell and 52t spur. Here's what I ran with my GPS strapped to it. 27.8

shouldn't they go faster than that? Like maybe around high 30's low 40's.

The problem with GPS is it's only accurate to so many feet. For a long trip, they are pretty accurate. But for a short run, their accuracy is pretty bad.

Well with as low as I have it geared, it really shouldn't. And unless you've ever used an instrument to measure speed, These things look as if they're going lot faster than they really are. That is where all the bogus 40, 45, 50 mph claim come from. And crf250ed, watch your mouth, I'm HPI tired and true.

I read that most of them were pretty accurate, accurate to a .1 atleast. (I am making the purchase on one)

Well I'd better let the USGS know to quit measuring the earth with them. You're not gonna find a more accurate speed tool than GPS. Unless you have a radar gun. You can however use math. Measure a speed trap of 100ft. Get up to top speed at the begining of the trap then use a stop watch to time how long it took. Then mulitply 100 by .68 and divide that by the time. That will give you you're top speed.

The GPS is great for measuring large distances. Mine has an accuracy of sometimes 7 feet. If your start and stop are both accurate to within 3 feet, and you run the truck 30 feet, you have a chance of being 20% off on yoour measurements. 3+3=6 feet off. 6 feet of 30 feet is 20%. That's huge. If you have the same variance and measure a distance of 1000 miles, who cares about 6 feet. So, put the GPS on your monster truck and drive it 30 or 40 miles, then it will be an accurate measurement. Putting the GPS on your monster truck and driving it down the driveway is no way comparable to measuring the earth with GPS. It's two totally different concepts.

No way. Distance and speed are two different things. The accuracy is based on your geographic location, yes it can be off. However, most GPS will only work as long as it has a signal from at least three satallites. This way the unit can calculate the difference. Speed is measured only when the unit moves. If it's location changes it will register, whether the location is correct or not. Therefore speed is almost always accurate, and if it is off, it's not by much.

Distance and speed are not two different things to a GPS. A GPS only knows coordinates. It calculates distance and speed based on changes in those coordinants. And if it calculates your distance traveled at 6 feet off, that's no big deal for a 100 mile trip. It becomes a very big deal for a 30 foot trip. The accuracy of the speed and distance given by a GPS become more and more accurate the further the trip. My GPS gives me an accuracy rating with every reading it takes during a trip. It may have an accuracy of 2 feet, or 10 feet depending how many satellites it can talk to and how clearly it can talk to them. Unless you know the accuracy of the GPS readings, I would not put a lot of stake in the speed reading it generates for a short trip.

Anyway, whenever I travel the accuracy circle of the unit might me different, but the speed is always the same. When my speedometer in my truck says 60 the GPS says 55.3. Everytime. No matter how off my geolocation is.

I got to say, that my GPS Receiver for my Laptop works very good. I usually have my Laptop on my passenger seat, or the passenger will carry it. The speed shown is very accurate but it is just delayed by a second or so. Accurate means, it shows the exact same speed as the speedometer.

this might be a good idea-find the ratio of all your gears,clutch/spur,trans,and diff, then divide your engine speed by that, multiply that by your tire cir in feet, multiply that by 60, then divide by 5280.

You would have to guess you're engine speed. Guessing isn't very accurate.

Measure a speed trap of 100ft. Get up to top speed at the begining of the trap then use a stop watch to time how long it took. Then mulitply 100 by .68 and divide that by the time. That will give you you're top speed.

No. Bagged97 has his Savage geared 14/52. That allows for awesome acceleration, with slightly less top speeds. That GPS reading of 27 mph sounds right on the mark for that gearing combo.

An uneducated newbie guestimate. Seeing as how we are just throwing numbers out there, mine does 50. I checked with a toy radar gun I got from a box of cereal.

"Well I drove mine next to a highway and the speed limit is only 45 and the cars were going faster than that and my truck was going just a little bit slower than that so I'd say it was doing 63.7!"

It looks a lot faster than it is. To tell you the truth I thought mine went faster than it really did. I'm not saying they won't do 40+, but in all reality what it looks like it's doing, and what it is doing are completly different.

So like I said before, a completely uneducated newbie guess.
