OK, this past few months, ive been iching to buy a new MT. Now heres the hard part, deciding between a savage x or 25. For the X, the LHS has it marked at $449(thanks to dale) and another has the 25 for $419.

Now you can spend the xtra 100 bucks buying a 3 sp tranny and a tuned pipe. and you'll be all set.
good luck with the Savage.

Dang, 100 off thats sweet. My LHS wont budge on the price. I love the clearance of the 25 and how well its name is. Anyone has a savage 25 would recomend it. I dont know $40 diff is small, but would be something to consider. Thanks Guys

take it from a savage 25 owner. get the X if it's only 40 bucks more. you get a bigger engine, a better radio box And it's much easier to work on. you no longer need to practicaly dissassemble the entire truck to get to the CVD'S and tranny box. The 3sp tranny is nice but where are you going to run it off road at that speed?

I think the 25 is the way to go beacause even know its discontiued it is still out there but I would get the 25 because the savage x has,nt been tested. you don't know what could happen. It could go out of control and be as loud as the supercros.that is LOUD!!!!
So get the 25.
So get the 25.

RE: Savage X or Savage 25?
i have a savage x, i also own a savage 25. go with the x, the price difference is nothing compared to what you get out of the x compared to the 25. they have the same size engines but the x's engine is ported and has SOOOOOO much mroe power then the original. the x handles better, IMO looks nicer, more reliable drivetrain (and easeir to work on if it breaks anyway) and hasnt sacrificed any of the original savage toughness. here are some pics of what i do with my savvy
no major breaks (a crack in a suspension arm from a WOT head on accident with the steel leg on a trmpoline and one blown spur from the slipper being tightened all the way and landing a jump at WOT) the truck is SOOOO much faster then the old, is lighter, easier to work on, handles better, and has lost none of the good the original savage had. awesome flyer, has a silencer cone for the exaust (if you dont love the noise of the big block), the engine rivals the picco 26 i had, tires hook up great (but the engine has the ponies to spin them on any surface including pavement) even if the 25 is 100 bucks cheaper id recommend the savvy x. its such a huge improvment. and youll spend alot more updating it.

and it also comes with more stuff out of the box, like the halfback rollcage (indestructable), allen keys and turnbuckle wrench, extra air filter element (upgrade sirfilter) the silencer cone, 14mm hexes incase you dont get rims with the 17mm hub, extra decals, servo horns, and other misc. parts that HPI felt would wear.

I have both. Unfortunately my X is sitting in a jumbled pile of mess after I unsuccessfully tried to put a 3-speed in it. I LOVE my Savage 25 - best 500 bucks I ever spent(in Germany..)
The X has yet to prove itself. It certainly seems more bendy and lest solid than the 25. Maybe a good thing, maybe not.. We'll see(assuming I can get it back together again..)

For anybody who has -and has driven - both, is there a significant speed difference? Word on the street seems to be that the F4.1 is pretty damn quick..
