is this ok???
is it normal too have a little bit oil oil coming out of the backing plate ??? I have dirt collecting on top of the roto-start cover and out of the hole were the r/s shaft goes in. It isnt poring out more just collecting dirt. Also I see some bubbles in the fuel line at carb not just when I first start it but ever once in a while.

It happens, but you can fix it fairly easy. Just pull the motor and remove the backplate. Put a thin layer of copper RTV sealant around the backplate and reinstall the backplate. This should fix your issue. It also would not hurt to seal around the carb neck also while you have the motor out. You can also seal around the HSN where it meets the carb. You can get the sealant at any auto parts store.

Put a thin layer under the part where the fuel line goes into the carb. That piece will come off with the needle valve. Put a little sealant under it, but just be careful to not get it in the carb or inside the needle valve.

Thats the walkthrough I used on my and the truck is running so much better without all the air leaks now. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE ONE WAY BEARING ON THE ROTO START IN THE RIGHT WAY !!!! ROUNDED BACK TOWARDS THE ENGINE !! I put it in backwards and had to break it down again. when installed it should only rotate one way and lock to turn the engine the other.

Well I think I found my problem.[&o] [&o][&o] I pulled the backing plate apart and found a hairline crack in the block were the backing plate slides in. Well I sealed it up and we will see what happens. But I will get hold of HPI for more warranty Isuse. So far I have had the whole radio system replaced along with front end parts caused by the radio crapping out . One servo cause the new one they sent me never worked and two oneway bearings.I love this truck when it runs but I think I got a lemon.
