Default Twin .21 engine Savage SS

Hey all. I'm about to start on a twin engine Savage project. I have most of what I will need already ordered, and should start arriving within the next few weeks. Now, let me tell you my plans... I already have a Savage X which runs a Surefire .32, and is a torque MONSTER. This is definately not the way I want this project to run. From the beginning I decided I wanted a pair of engines that rev.
I chose Ofna Hyper 21 8 port engines for several reasons (price, availability of parts, and reliability) Now between these 2 engines, there should be plenty of torque to get it moving from a standstill in a hurry, plus... when it picks up some speed, its going to rev like a buggy! I cant wait to try and drag race some bigger engined Savages like my Surefire.

-------------------------------------
Here is the list of parts I have on order:
-------------------------------------
-brand new Savage SS roller (I got a great deal on this truck, it is still NIB other than a few parts missing. (engine, shocks, body, wheels/tires, dogbones)
-New Era twin engine conversion kit.
-Ofna Hyper 21 8 port engine (x2)
-Flywheel / clutch / collet (x2)
-second HPI SS chrome pipe (to match one in kit)
-Headers / gaskets
-GH seel spur
-RRP 16t CB's / bearings
-Motor Savers filters
-UFO wheel / Mayhem tires

------------------------
At this point, I still need:
------------------------
-Shocks (bid in on Ebay)
-Body (bid in on Ebay)
-Servo's / receiver
-More spur / CB gearing options

Like I said... everything will start coming in soon, and I'll be able to get started. I will document the work and post pics and video's as I go along.

Here is a body I have a bid in for on Ebay for this project:

Picked up more parts:
_Hitec 645 steering servo
-Hitec 425bb throttle/brake servo

I won the auction for the body, but not for the shocks I wanted, so I ordered some stockers for now.

The one single thing I will still need is an fm receiver to go with my MX-3 I use for my other trucks, otherwise, I have EVERYTHING on the way. I am dying sitting here waiting, and I cant even run my Savage X, cuz the rear diff exploded last week, and I'm waiing for diveline upgrade parts. The Revo is getting alot of attention now lol.

Check out the heads I have coming to dress up the Hyper 21's:

Neat idea but talk to the old drag racers that use to run two engines and get their opinion about running two engines. Either way you will have fun building it. Good Luck.

The SS roller, Hyper 21's, and all the small peices showed up today, and I started building:
MIP shiny CVD's all around except for the rear center which is an extended dogbone that comes with the New Era kit.
The New Era TVP's and motor plate went in as I went along.
I plan to build it over the next four days so I can start testing and setting up on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll try and take lots of pics as I go along.

Thanx sled, and icant.
Ran into a few problems:
-I cant run my 16t CB's (theres not enough clearance on the left side)
-The SS kit didn't come with pipe, and I had only ordered 1 thinking it would, so I'm short a pipe.
-The fuel tank that comes with the New Era kit is a POS... the lid split when I screwed the pressure nipple in... I'll have to find something else (although I have glued it and I think its sealed now)

Other than this, the build has been trouble free. I'm in a holding pattern for now, should be able to go pick up (or order) what I need on monday morning.

Looks nice, but i don't think you'll get much run-time running two engines and looking at the size of the tank.

Very nice build, hope to see some video soon!

Yeah I'm in the process of searching for a pair of fuel tanks to increase my runtime.

All I need now is a second pipe to match, or a set of pipes (depending on what my LHS has in stock), and some turbo glow plugs. I did steal a few items from my Savage X to get it put together, so I need to replace those as well.
I should start looking into some sort of extended length body too.

Should be picking everything up tomorrow or the next day, then I can start the run in process!

hot bodies makes extended bodies and rbinnovations makes dual tank perches.

look even better now, break 1 engine in at a time, and if i were you, try and return the pipe you bought and get 2 hpi ribbed ones, you'll have more torq and itll be alot louder.

nice!

BTW, the RB innovations dual tank setup is stupid...it only can fit a pair of 75cc tanks, which is less than the stock savage fuel tank's 160cc's

...well the tank he is using obviously is smaller than 160cc,maybe 125cc...75cc+75cc=150cc, only 10cc less

dude my SMALLblock 1/10 cars don't have enough runtime on a 75cc tank...

i can't imagine a big block with a 75cc tank.

yeah I'm hoping to get at least 250cc of combined capacity (if I run 2 tanks), otherwise I'm looking at aircraft style flexible tanks. Your right dracy... I am by no means looking for torque with this truck... and excesive noise I can do without on this one as well ( I have a Trinity pipe on my Revo and I get tired of the bleeding ears lol. All my club buddies cringe when I have my truck near them hahaha )
I'm on my way out the door to go to my LHS (which isn't so local...2 hours drive!) I hope to get everything I need, and be able to start breaking in the Hyper's today or tomorrow.
If I dont find tanks right away, I think I can stuff the Savage tank where the New Era one is, but I'm thinking that 2 100 - 200cc buggy tanks should fit if I can find ones with the right dimensions (low profile and long and narrow)

I was tired of waiting for a second pipe and mounted my composite stock pipe from my Savage X to do some run-in and testing.

Ran into carb problems right away.. the HSN housing broke on the right engine. I got it going with parts from my Force 28 and starte breaking in the engines. The video is from tank #6 havent started leaning for power yet, and I have fuel delivery issues which I'm blaming on the tanks tiny size and being located below carb level.

I have 2 Hellfire 150cc tanks on the way which I'm hoping to mount above the radio box. I think it's almost necessary to have the two engines on completely seperate fuel/pressure systems.

http://media.putfile.com/twin-savage-large
quality is poor... rcpics is down.

I like the way it sounds, the two engines with different exhaust systems
