I was having lots of problems with my diffs early in the spring, went through 4 of them till i got fed up and decided to do something about it. The 13t bevel gear was always loosing a tooth or 2 and ripping the rest apart. These solved all my problems http://cgi.ebay.ca/HPI-Savage-Alloy-...QQcmdZViewItem
I know you can find a cheaper set but IMO these are worth the money because they aren't made of 6061 alloy and the nova brand is known for quality.

The alloy diff cups won't actually prevent the pinion gear from stripping. Correct shimming of the diff case or an alloy diff case also correctly shimmed will go a long way to preventing pinion teeth stripping. The cheapest way also is not to be so heavy on braking, because as the brakes are locked on stopping the pinion gear from turning, there is usually still enough inertia in the wheels to keep the diff turning thus breaking teeth on the pinion gear.

got to puck up a shim kit look on towerhobbies.com but just grease them up all the time also if u go on a jump don't land when ur apling the brakes or gas

Shimmimg is the only way to extend the period between diff rebuilds. I think its 8mm and 10mm shims. I got the Yokomo brand. They are quiet cheap. I looked at tower and rcboyz but could not find what you need. I am sure someone else will find a link for you and post it.
My front diff required 0.6mm of shimming on the crown gear and 0.3mm on the pinion. That is a lot of slop or lash. There is no wonder i was going through so many gear sets... Better now though.

I've never fragged any teeth on the 13t and 43t bevels so I never had to rebuild the diffs. I therefore have never had to use any shims.
As far as greasing the 13t and 43t bevels, I always do so and apply liberal amounts. I did this to reduce frictions, but I guess it has also helped me protect my bevels even at full throttle when coming down from some sick jumps.

The easist way to stop stripping teeth is to let off the gas before hitting the ground. Hitting the ground at full throttle is just asking for broken parts.
