Default transmission problem

All I have is front wheel drive on my savage 25. The strange part is, you can hold any 3 wheels firmly while spinning 1, and none of the other wheels want to spin. Does anyone have any clue where my problem could be to restore my 4wd? I really don't want to take apart all 3 transmission sections on the truck(front, middle, and back that the dogbones connect).

thanks

First thing, lift front of truck up while leaving rear wheels on the ground or floor
or whatever. now hold the left wheel in one hand and turn the right wheel
with your other hand. when you do this what happens?

fxrs, the spur gear spins but none of the other 3 wheels want to spin.
USERNAMEHERE, I don't understand what you said. I mean I don't know what those parts/pieces are.

If you can hold 3 wheels and keep then from spinning and spin the 4th wheel you have a problem. Could be a drive cup set screw or a differential are the first to things I would check.

Check the hex shaped drive cup on the back of tranny where your disk
brake is. There is a set screw in the side of drive cup that locks it to
shaft coming out of tranny. See if its missing. Another way to check this
is to hold the brakes on and see if you can turn spur gear.
