They look like carb restrictors. Basically you plug them into your carb to limit/restrict air flow and alter the performance of your engine. No doubt this will be explained in your manual for the engine.

the 6.5 it smaller then the 8 so if u put the 6.5 in there will be less air in the engine there fore it will be l.ike it's ritch. this is good to use in the winter. the 8 i would use in the summer. in the summer it's best to lean it causing lees fuel more air. so u would want the bigger restricor(#8). it's like a tunning tool. u can even run with out one. on my axial .28 i don't even use one. only in the winter

the "6.5" should be an 8.5. the open carb is 9.0, then the restricters are 8.5 and 8.0. the smaller the throat, the less air is drawn so you have to compensate by leaning the fuel. this will give better fuel economy cause you arent burning so much fuel. ive ran mine at 9.0 and its fine. i run the .28 in a truggy with the 8.5 and with a 150cc tank i can get about 10 minutes run time.

....some where i heard that it also gives you a little more low end snap... is this true?

I would think the opposite. If less air gets trough the carb, then it means it is already lean, so you got to give it more fuel. LEaning the high speed needle will increase the amount of air that goes trough the carb.

With 6.5 opening, you should lean the high speed needle for the carb to compensate for the small opening and get more air.

With larger opening, you get more air flow in tha carb and you should richen the high speed needle.

but if you intake less air, then you have a surplus of fuel wouldnt you?

You just don't want your exhaust to spit fuel. You want blue smoke

With the carb restrictors, the driver can select either low fuel consumption or high power, allowing a wide range of engine control. Usage is as follows: -9mm Blue: Fitted with Carb when it leaves the factory. suitable for high-speed and flat courses that require power. -8mm Red: Supplied with engine. Suitable for technical and bumpy courses and when less fuel consumption is more important.
