Does the new savage x 4 spider diff with heavy duty cups fit in the aluminum diff case that you can get for the older savages?

RE: Does the savage X Diff fit old savage?
Here is what I was thinking, I found this diff from a savage x on ebay and I plan to use it to fix mine. I just want to take the guts out and replace mine. I don't plan to use that outer plastic shell.

RE: Does the savage X Diff fit old savage?
The non-X diff and the X-diff are 100% interchangeble between X and non-X Savages. Actually, it is the diffs inside the housing themselves that are 100% interchangable, whether they are the alum diff cups or the standard plastic diff cups.
Now, the X-housing (outer plastic shell) must use the X-shock tower and the non-X housing must use the non-X shock tower. The X-diff housing is the easy access one and because of the easy access design, you cannot put on a non-X shock tower nore can use use the front half of a non-X housing and try to screw that onto a rear half of an X-diff housing. Since you are not going to use the outher plastic shell, this is moot for your intentions.
