My X stopped steering today. It makes a noise that is not clicking but more like a constant buzzing, the servo is not repsonding. Before I take it off and check it out is it possible it could be something simple. Im a newbie and the Savage is practically new and has only gone through about 6 tanks of fuel. Any suggestions.... and if I do take it out what will I check for
Any help much appreciated

I have just replaced the AA batteries with a HPI hump pack. I thought the batteries in the transmitter might be low, but the throttle repsonds instantly when I press it. The steering didnt suddenly stop responding. It happened gradually over the space of about 3 minutes. I just put in a fail safe and though it might be that but I took it out and still the same problem.
If I change batteries and still same problem what do I look for trying to suss out if the gears are stripped - newb question I know but will it be obvious if gears are stripped

is it not responding, or is the servo motor spinning. the same thing happened to my stock servo. i took it apart and the gear was stripped. the stock one sucks anyway. i replaced it with a futaba 3305 i think it was and its alot better

I'm a noob too, but I suggest charging the batteries. Mine got low, but had enough to work one servo, but not the other. If anything, switch back to regular batteries (new) and see if that solves the problem. If not, then you can rule out weak/dead batteries.

Another thing to consider is upgrading to a NiCad or NiMH 6V hump pack. Those are much better than the AA batts anyday; they are rechargable and provide reliable power to the servos and receiver.

Checked with normal AA batteries. I have taken out the servo, the gear on the bottom doesnt look stripped. I connected it back up and it still making the same noise - sounds like there is something spinning inside. Any other suggestions or is it screwed

Take the servo horn off see if the teeth inside that arent stripped. Try running it when its not attached see if it moves at all. If not youll prob have to take it apart completly.
