So.... guys I've been out for a while....
Alright, I have been out of Savaging for a long time (about 3 years). So in the past 2 weeks, I've been wrenching just to get my Savage SS back to where it was. I am looking for some sort of approval of what I've done so far and where youd go from here.... Money isn't really a problem but I don't want to spend tons of cash on useless parts. If you have a suggestion, tell me the cost and the reason why it is needed.
I ported and polished my sleeve (stock .25)
I ported and polished my stock header and ribbed pipe.
I installed a 14T hardened clutch bell and a hardened 52T spur gear.
I installed red seal bearings on the clutch bell.
I got a HS-5645 MG for the steering and a HS-625 MG for the gas/brake.
Thanks....

I would at least go with 15/49 (or higher) gearing. 14/49 is what came with the Savage 21, and you will very wuickly overheat a .25 engine with that gearing.

Well I am using the 14/52 because I want more usable torque throughout the whole rpm range. The gearing will not be changed unless I run into a problem.... and so far, it is working wonderfully.

my mate runs that gearing, he drives mostly up hills and round small areas and does jump, it works best..

Ok, I installed the HPI aluminum clutch shoes (p/n 87196) and a 3 shoe flywheel. I installed them with the set screw weights put in and used the silver springs. It really works, I'm very happy with them. What else would you recommend?

Well, I have the aluminum diffs and steel gears on my list for when one fails. Well, I have put a few tanks through my Savage and Ive been getting the needles readjusted. Now, everytime I get about 1/3 of a tank left it seems to die out. I have known about the lean condition from the fuel tank for a while. Now I am guessing it is mainly from the primer on my SS tank. Will the s-25 tank without the primer fix that? I dont feel like modding my fuel system unless it is absolutely needed. I heard something about a new eras tank but i dont want to zip tie it to my truck.... What have you guys done?
