Default "Lightweight" Transmission Gears Problem

Good Day Guys, hope you can help me with this

I’m currently using the “lightweight” Drive Gear (86274) and Idler Gear (86275). They are mounted on Titanium shafts. While doing my post maintenance check, I noticed there were several metal shavings inside the center Tranny. I checked the gears one by one and my Lightweight parts were scraped!

I just found out the Gear Shaft (86343) where the Idler gear is connected has slight play between the tranny where it can move freely from left to right. Also, the Idler shaft (86344) has also a small bit of play for free movement. When these two shafts moves the Lightweight Drive and Idler Gear will not be in vertically parallel to each other, thus reducing the contact mesh of the two gears. These two gears are of the same thickness (they're thin than the stock gears) therefore a slight movement of the Gear and Idler shafts would mean loss or partial contact.

I tried to go back using the stock and heavy Drive/Idler gear and since they have thicker width, no matter how the shafts move, the mesh is still intact.

I’d like to ask the following questions:

1. Would it be okay if I place an O-ring in the inner drive cup of the center front so that the Gear Shaft will stay in place? Will there be a trade off since the front dogbone will become tight from cup to cup?
2. Is there a way to shim the Gear and Idler shaft? Would it be safe?
3. Can I add a small amount of grease to these two gears?
4. Have you ever encountered the same incident similar to mine?
5. What other options can I consider to prevent this from happening?

Once I get a good camera I will also show you the pictures of my worn Drive/Idler Gear.

Yea you should be able to shim them. Just find a proper sized washer and dont make them too tight you still want it to be able to move a tiny bit so it doesnt bind up.

I see, thanks but would it also be ok if i place an o-ring or slice of fuel tube in the dogbone cups?
