Easy to know it if it's 3 speed. It should shift twice, first from 1 to 2, then from 2 to 3.

I run a Spektrum too, and I have the antenna trimmed so it just tucks under the rollbar. That way it will can't ever get torn up when I roll/flip/crash my Savage.

There should be 3 pairs of gears in the tranny (under the gear cover)

do you just cut the antenna? I have mine wrapped around the roll cage but would like to just have a short (couple inch) antenna.

NO, DO NOT CUT THE ANTENNA! you will lose range. you traded a losi 8 for a savage? i wish i knew that, i would have traded you in a second.

you have the savage X, so your gearbox cover can be removed from the top by removing a few screws which also makes changing your slipper a breeze and inside the gearbox cover should look like this picture:

Nothing personal, but you are handing out total mis-information.

Quoted from Spektrum's DX3 manual:
[quote]If desired, the antenna can be shortened (cut) to exactly 3.6” with negligible loss of
range, and in some applications the short 3.6” length will make installation easier./[quote]

Go ahead and cut it. I can personally attest to the FACT that range isn't affected.
