Spur gear.....
Just as i finished tuning my savage x 4.6 my damn spur gear had to strip on me....
I was thinking about gettting this steel Integy one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...TODAY.m238.lVI
Will this work with the savage x 4.6????
Does anyone know how they perform??
and is it worth getting a steel one because i know some people stay with the plastic ones so they strip instead of maybe some other internal gears.
Thanks, Daniel

Stick w/plastic. They should last a long time if your mesh and slipper are set right. Besides, I have never heard anything good about Integy's parts.

RE: Spur gear.....
i have heard from vets to stick with the plastic . reason....... like you said before , its better to strip a visible spur than something else on the internal, thats most likely more expensive. the spur, its a cheap expendable part, get ur mesh right and it will last. i would consider it like a drivetrain insurance policy, if anything strips it s most likely a$5 spur

If you set the slipper right there will be no problem. I have used steel spurs for years with no ill effects on transmission longevity.

I run a RB TM 728 and the slipper has to be tightened rite up as tight as you can to keep it from slipping, otherwise it will slip and you'll need to replace the slipper pad.

I agree go with a hardened steel spur gear and bell set up you wont be disappointed. I think the myth of it will hurt your tranny or your diffs is just that a myth I have never seen anything to support this myth. I run steel on my savage, my revo, lst 2, and hellfire and have never had any problems.
