How do you stop the brake screws from coming loose?
My brakes work fantastic for approx 5 mins then the screws holding the shoes in place come loose.....(dual disk brakes)
The screws go into plastic so can you still use thread lock or not?
Do any of you have issues like that?
Cheers in advance.

you probably overtightened them and pulled the threads. stick a dab of RTV inside the hole, assemble your brakes, and let it set overnight. that may help...
Thread lock won't do much good in plastic.

rtv is silicone,
i use ultra copper for my engine sealing.
try cg glue or shoo glue when you put screws in.

The zip tie trick works it holds better than new. I cut a strip that is no thicker than a toothpic and a little longer than the depth of the hole, this way the zip tie doesnt get pushed in under the screw but stays next to the screw. Then put the screw in and tighten it and its like new.

NEVER EVER SAY THAT
cuz then you'll just be more dissapointed when somthing goes wrong cuz it will proven fact, so just don't ask what can fail, ask what will fail.
it may not be that but something else

Fyi,
they make rethreads for all rc cars and trucks. you have to look hard but they make them. they are usually brass but some are stainless. if i find the site i got mine i will post it. You can also make you own.... but don’t try it unless you are willing to replace the part if you mess up. its pretty easy just drill out the hole to a bigger size then rethread it with a larger screw, grease or oil the original screw you want to use, then mix up some 5 min epoxy, fill the hold and use a tooth pick to make sure you get it all in there the push the old screw in and hold it in place. once the epoxy has hardened slowly work out the screw. note: do not drill the hole bigger that the out side threads of the existing screw, you want the existing screw to be in the same position as it was before, making it to big will let it fall to one side and not be centered. this is for and experienced rc person. i have don’t this to my savage and a few traxas trucks.
good luck

RE: How do you stop the brake screws from coming loose?
Glad to see the zip tie trick is working for others. I figured this out when I thought back to what I would do to when I had stripped out wood where the hinges of a door would go, just take some wood slivers and fill the hole to take away the slack. The same applies here, no need for any glues or anything that could worsen the situation.
My first savage was getting old and ALL the screw holes in the tranny and radio box were stripped. I didnt feel like buying new parts as these were still fine. After doing the zip tie thing its still holding together 2 years later and IMO better than new. Follow it just like Hawk said and you'll see its a great cheap/easy fix.
