The adjustments just allow you to "clock" the wand hole for better access. For the Savage, you will need the wand hole to be on the left side of it.

Maybe cuz Im looking at it with a savage point of view but I cant help wonder whats the advantage of being able to rotate the socket like that? Does look cool though...

I had that one and it blow out the side a couple of months ago. Though I was using it to start a new Picco P3 with it's tight pinch. The regular back plate got me thru those frustrating beginning day's of breakin.

I am curious if thewse things can be locked once in a desired position. The torque can cause the position of these things to come out of desired postion oif they are just free-floating between the back plate and that plastic cover.

Yes there grooved position setting so when you tighten it down against the back engine plate it locks it into position, but remember this is nylon (plastic) we're talking about.
