Default Hellfire engine in Savage

What are the differences here in these two 4.6 engines? I have a Brand new 4.6 Savage X, and a just broke-in Hellfire 4.6 engine, so I thought I'd just install that and forgo another break-in right now! I also looked them up and it looks like they both have about 2.95hp

Any thoughts?

Thanks

the stock savage x has and F4.6 which is a newer version of the K4.6 that comes is the hellfire. the X SS has a K4.6 and the hellfire has a K4.6 HO... HO stands for high output but in reality it doesnt put out that much more..

PICCO ftw

I've had both engine's and the hellfire mill has more rpms and works well in single speed trucks(buggy~truggy motor). the savage engine has less rpm's but reaches it hp peak fastter "truck motor" i'd say the hellfire engine has more power but it's really more useable power range than motor power. the hellfire motor is a nice motor but not when it's priced well above motor that it can't out power it, BUT it is a nice motor !

I say the F4.6 is better than the k4.6, ive had both. The f4.6 has more balls (not much more). Both are low level engines but are ok for a savage/hellfire. I had a k4.6 in my hellfire and it lasted ages, easy to tune, pullstart was crap (went to bump box). Id install the k4.6 as u said as after a while u might want to upgrade, then u could sell the f4.6 new and get more $ for the upgraded mill like a lrp 28 or picco.

Well I do know its NOT the same engine as the Savage SS 4.6. Yeah close, but they have a few differences, and engine specs being one of those! Yeah I got the engine from a Hellfire that had a bad pipe from the factory, so when the guy fired it up, it wouldn't power up, or move the truck to start the break-in.

Well the guy bought my brand new XTM 24.7 for the Hellfire, but I told him to check a few things first, but no, he had to do the engine swap. Well needless to say, the 24.7 did the exact same thing! We put my ofna pipe on it and it did great! Badd pipe fromfactory is all it was. Well that left me with the new, started once, Hellfire 4.6 engine.

I then ended up with the whole Hellfire about a month later, so I installed the new, original 4.6 engine and broke it in. Ran great! Well the original owner, now wanted the Hellfire back so he could install this new, LRP truggy engine he just got, so I sold the Hellfire back to him, and he sold me the original, only 10 tanks thru it, Hellfire engine for, get this, $50.00!!

I thought, I don't have anything to put this engine in right now, but I ain't gonna pass it up with only 10 tanks thru it for $50.00. Well this week I ordered a New Savage X because my whse had them on sale! I'm thinking, hey I got this basically new 4.6ho, might as well throw it in the Savvy! I haven't ever used any engine other than a 4.1 or 4.6 in a Savvy, so I thought it might be a good idea!

LOL Your joking right? 200 bucks. Maybe 150 to 175 on a good day. Add shipping to 200$ and thats over half the price of a brand new truck. Heck picco p3 .28's are 200$[link=http://cgi.ebay.com/OFNA-51232-PICCO-P3-28-TRUGGY-BLOCK-9-PORT-ENGINE-NIB_W0QQitemZ270277684011QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item2 70277684011&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A15%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14]Picco p3 .28 shipped for 207.72$[/link]

lol good luck. try more like 128 thats what mine went for. the only way you could get close to 200 is if it was a retail engine but its not its OEM.
