Roll the truck by hand (with the engine off) and apply the brakes. If you feel absolutely no drag at all there are 2 possibilities:
1) The linkage is set up incorrectly, check the throttle servo horn, you'll see a linkage with a spring and a knob. Screw the knob in so that the spring is just touching the servo horn at neutral (no screwdriver required). For more aggressive braking swap the spring out with a piece of fuel tubing.
2) If the above doesn't work, check the phillip head screws on the brake assembly. You may have to tear down the truck to tighten the screws, but hopefully its just the linkage.
Also, if you're running 4 AA's in the truck the brakes will appear quite weak. I highly recommend getting a 5 cell hump pack for heaps better braking and longer/more consistent run times.
Good luck!

RE: savage x 4.6 break issue
Did you try manually turning the little black knob on the servo side of the brake linkage?
My 4.6 brakes were VERY loose from the factory. I have to have turned that knob at least 5 turns in from where it was when I opened the box, and my brakes are still a little looser than I would like.
However, any more than 5 1/4ish turns gives me a little brake drag while in neutral.

Mmm... I dunno, mine is not HARD to turn per se, but it's not loose either. I'd say a fair amount of effort is required to turn mine? Thats a pretty subjective question though, hehe.

I have a couple reccomendations on this,
1, move the steering servo to the brakes and buy a new steering servo
2, buy a 6v hump pack
if you do these two things your truck will flip over forwards when you hit the brakes

what they said...the throttle/brake linkage in the savvy is pretty tricky to set up, but if set up properly, the brakes are awesome..
in this case, "breaks" would be spelt B-R-A-K-E-S. See "brakes" sounds better doesn't it?

We do not need a grammar monitor since most everyone understands the request of the original poster.

RE: savage x 4.6 break issue
seems to me the problem is the truck is just not broke in yet. give it some more time and let the breaks need to seat them selfs. I built the SS about 2 months ago and it took almost a half a gallon before the truck came to life and everything started working right.
