just a general question here. I have a savy x my brother in law found someone selling a tmaxx with the .25 will the tmaxx keep up with the savy speed and bashing wise? NO fanboy answers needed just want the real deal opinions

Should keep up no problem but if it has not been up graded a lot it will break much more often.

The Tmaxx is actually faster than the Savage, but the Savage is more durable.

Since when??? maybe out of the box but a 20 dollar clutch bell will leave the tmaxx in the dust

Also that tmaxx has a .25 in it??? what engine is he useing?? are you sure he didnt mean 2.5?

I said it right. A stock Tmaxx 2.5 is faster than a stock Savage. Seen it a hundred times. The Tmaxx has a better power to weight ratio than the Savage.......10th scale vs 8th scale and that's where the advantage is. Basic physics in play here.

the tmaxx 2.5 is a 1/10 scale i didnt know that someone mentioned a clutch bell upgrade whice one is that that will give the savage more speed power etc without haveing to change other things to make it work ok

Increasing the number of teeth on the clutch bell or decreasing the amount of teeth on the spur will give rise to more top speed at the loss of torque.
Decreasing the number of teeth on the clutch bell or increasing the amount of teeth on the spur will give rise to more torque at the loss of top speed.

The T-Maxx will keep up speed wise and probably handle corners better. Many swear that the T-Maxx will break more often.

Depends how hard you guys are bashing. If its just zipping around an open flat area than the T-Maxx will keep up no problems.

ok so the tmaxx is alil smaller just as fast less tourqe maybe not as good for rough bashing in the long run? So whats all the hype about the 3.3 tmaxx and revos are they much faster or what?

the new T-MAXX is just as big and heavier than the Savage, with a much smaller engine=Savage is faster

So to sum it up the new tmaxx is the reply from traxxas to react to the savage x im sure its not a huge difference in performance but i assumed there would be some for sure

savage could have a older new era kit, they use to make a bb kit for the max with your choice of the 21-25 ofna motors, since onfa dropped the force 25, its now the .21 or .28...

Really? Then the Tmaxx is not 10th scale anymore? Last I checked it was still 10th.

Nothing misleading. The Tmaxx, depending on the flavor, is good for a minimum of 40 right out of the box, with the newest doing mid 40s WITHOUT having to go to bigger engine, a 3spd trans or gear swapping like you would need to do with the Savage to obtain the same speeds. Just calling it like it is. [8D]

Oh yeah, just put a hot BB in a Tmaxx and watch the Savage try to keep up. Power to weight all the way. LOL

The 4908, which is the lengthed T-Maxx, is about the same size dimensionally as a Savage X platform. It is definetly not the size of the Savage XL.

4908 - 539mm length, 417mm width, 335m wheelbase.
Savage X - 435mm length, 427mm width, 336m wheelbase.

So no not really is there anything noticeable in size. I should have taken some pics of my T-Maxx and Savage X 4.6 SS together before I tore the Savage X apart and started upgrading to XL. They were pretty much roughly the same size.

My friends TMaxx 2.5 does not hold a candle to my Savage in regards to speed.

I beat him off the line and at the top end. Both trucks bone stock.

But we really don't drag race much if ever, so... why does it even matter?

That's great and all, BUT the Tmaxx 2.5 is not the new, longer/wider chassis'd Maxx.....it's the older, narrower SWB one. Either way, it doesn't matter much as I prefer the Savage over the Maxx. Arguing about this stuff is a moot point.
