Default RE: Servo upgrade?

Hitec 985MG is a servo with great TQ. I will be having a Hitec 985MG for steering in my XL and the 965MG for the throttle.

Check out www.towerhobbies.com for more info and ebay has some steals for both servos at least 1-2 times a week. They won't drain battery too much more and you will definitely notice a difference. If you do not want to purchase 2 servos, then just move the stock steering servo into the throttle position and replace the steering servo with a Hitec servo.

G/L and have fun.

You do not have to change any linkages...

Yes, if you upgrade just your steering servo and put the stock steering servo in for your throttle, then that would be a good upgrade.

Hitec 985MG in steering
HPI SF-2 for throttle (this is the servo that you have for your steering right now, so when you upgrade the steering to the Hitec 985MG, put the SF-2 where your throttle is)

PrjctStrtFrce just wondering have you run a servo with more torque then the 985MG? I have run servos with 130oz or so of torque and servos with 200oz torque and will NEVER go back to anything under 175oz even in a basher.

Is there REALLY that much of a difference with that upgrade. Any link on how to add the extra servo. what does a decent servo cost for this. Metal gears and stuff a good feature? Any deals around online for a good one

yeah i run 193 and don't want any less, it hold turns like nothing else on grass pavement and whatever, its great, yeah definetally you want torque its worth it....

i love my TS 150 from tower runs for 40 mg digital, and the whole shebang tho is kinda slow but not bad and i don't really mind, but i recomend spending at least 40 on a servo for steering....

No sir, I have not.

The 985MG has 172oz, so that's close enough to your minimum

But then again, I do not plan on spending close to $100 on a servo...I think mine was a great steal for $45 brand new and has all the little goodies that the more expensive servos have except for the additional minor amount of torque.

For steering you can always buy the tower pro MG995 and you can find them in abundance on the internet for about 10 bux. Also, when one goes they are cheap enough to replace. I have used them before myself and they were a ton better that the stock servos. Also, just move the stock steering servo to the brake and throttle and have a good amount of torque there.

I am confused at to what second servo you are talking about. Do you want to put a second steering servo in? I have never seen anybody with it done but I guess it can be.

We are saying to replace your steering servo completely with only one servo. If you are looking to put some power down then you should get something like [link=http://www.jrradios.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=JRPS8711]this!![/link]

Default RE: Servo upgrade?

anyone have any experience with these?....I know they are a bit far away....but 2 for cheap...and they are 208 oz at 6 volts!

I'm gonna try em out anyway...they'll get here someday!

and where can you get the mg 995 for 10 bux as stated above(locally/not asia).......I'd do that...I now have a futaba S3305 in my savage....its rated at 125 oz or something close to that....and just the weight of the truck seems to be too much load for it in my mind....I'm new at this...but always like things to be better than they need to be..not almost!!

any links to your favorite cheap servos would be greatly appreciated...I'm lookin...but experience rules.

Cheers
Stephen

Please tell me that you did not order the servos from the Servo Guy on ebay.

I did purchase the servos from Hong Kong for ten bucks, and for free shipping when you buy three, so thirty dollars total. And, they were here in about a week and a half. Which when they are half way around the world is not half bad.

lol yeah I bid the minimum 5.50 on them...for 2 servos,,,,plus 10 er 15 for shipping

Are they any good?

are they really 208 oz servos?....if so...thats cheaper than a case of fine Canadian beer....and will hopefully last longer!!!

Sorry looked at Towers web site again and I see they only list the torque for 4.8 volts not 6 volts and I thought that servo only had 133oz of torque which it does on 4.8 volts. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] Yes the servo is good enough for bashing.
