first thing i would buy for that truck is a better steering servo. do not be surprised at all if it fails. hitec makes a decent servo for around 40 bucks. i think its the hg645??? i am at work so i am not sure about the part #. then i would upgrade the radio eqiupment to a higher quality unit. dx3s is a great radio. the f4.6 engine is a great mill so i would just run it untill you wear it out. -scott

everyone here seems to like the traxxas wheelie bar over the savage wheelie bar. from what ive seen it just takes a little bit of modding to fit. And as far as a roll bar goes id say definetly cause the plastic one is junk. ill show a pic of what ive got. its .500 thick chrome moly. Idk if its the best but it works for me an it better than the stock one.

The Sav X 4.6 RTR does not come with a stock battery for the revceiver. I'd suggest you buy a 6-Volt hump back battery though. The 4 alkalines do not last long and they quickly affect/weaken your steering and throttle response because they're only 4.8v. I run a 1700mah ofna pack and it last a good amt of time. At least 8 tanks or so.

Four alkaline batteries are 6v. They're 1.5v each as opposed to NiCd/NiMh AA cells which are 1.2v

My mistake, you're right about the voltage, but the alkalines don't last as long as a hump back, that's the point I was trying to get across.

Ohh yea you might want to get a bigger battery than a 1500mah NiCd for the starter I had a 1800 NiCd for mine and it would barely crank over a RC after 10-15 starts. I got fed up with it dying when I was out and went back to pullstarts on mine

Thanks for the info guys.... the hump pack is one of the 1st things on my list of upgrades. So far i am going to put a new pipe on it, new reciever pack w/ battery lvl monitor, roll cage, and a new radio/receiver (futaba). Then everything elsei will upgrade as parts wear or break. My friendreceived his today beforei got mine i so pissed butI helped him break the motor in for the 1st tank then he went home to dothe next few tanks by himself cause to be honest sitting there watching the truck on blocks idling is pretty boring lol.

Butthe Manual for the Savagecontradicts itself in step one of the break in process it tells you to idle for 3 tanks with the wheelsoff the ground. Then step 2 tells you after the 2nd tank is empty take your 3rd tank and do low throttle circles forthe 3rdtank.

I told him just to be on thesafeside run 3 tanks off the ground and then 2 tanks low throttle circles then figure 8's.
