The Aerofly website left me a little confused. I use a Futaba T6XAS which has the old-style round 6-pin DIN interface, and I use a laptop that has no serial port. I'm under the impression that AFPD comes with a USB cable, so the serial port's not a problem. But, does the USB cable interface with the 6-pin DIN? Or do I need another interface cable? Also, what is the Game Commander deal?
Thanks!

Hello,
I am not that familiar with Futaba, But I'll take a stab at it. The "cord" that comes with AFPD is USB on one end & 3.5 mini (phono) on the other end. This fits JR transmitters with no adapter needed. AFPD also comes with an adapter to adapt the stereo phono plug to many other transmitters. This adapter is 3.5 female jack on one end, then it "Y's" out into two plugs that I think are DIN. They look similar to a PS2 mouse plug but larger. Neither one has six pins though. Both have 5 pins. If you compared this to looking at the lug bolts on a truck axle, one would be a six lug axle with the bottom lug bolt missing. The other one looks like a ten bolt axle with all five bottom bolts missing. In both cases the line up notch is straight down. The Commander version gives you a simple transmitter, similar to a buddy box in case you don't have a "real" transmitter but would like to fly the simulator. I hope this helps.

Thanks Crowfly. I'm getting closer to an answer. Here is a photograph of the 6 pin female connector that is on most older Futaba transmitters. This is the back of the T6XAS transmitter. Can you tell me if the Y-jack has the male compliment of this connector? I just want to be absolutely sure that it'll work with my transmitter before I go ahead with the purchase.
Thanks again!

Thanks STL. Just what I needed to know. I've looked at other sims on the market, and I'm definitely going to go with AFPD. Thanks for your time.

Just need some findout as I am about to commit one soon!
HI,
Does AFPD come with this feature "look at Ground" -a feature that will keeps the Earth in view at the bottom of the display screen in maintaining model to ground perspective.
Also, the coming soon AFPD USB commander set, can I assume it just has all needed stuffs to plug in without any user Tx box?
Regards

Does any simulator have this feature? What if the plane is straight above you. AFPD has 2nd window mode that you can set to different modes including follow mode.

Yes, that comes with a radio. If you have a radio you do not need this feature.

Hello STLPilot,
Enjoy jets alot and have been flying on g2 for quite awhile, and g2 have this feature that I feel that in some sense it reassemble viewing arc when I am in flying field. Get ready to SW to AFPD/com soon because IT HAS F14....
..
THIS IS NOT A PRODUCT COMPARSION ISSUE!
Once again! Thanks for your reply.

Hello, STLPilot
"look at Ground" -will you considered this feature in AFPD?
Of course, AFPD has it's unique and powerful features, but just happened this feature has already screwed up as my second nature now, and hoping that my next sim -AFPD will also have! then it will be a perfection to me!
Thanks

Albert if Im understanding correctly you would like to use AFPD at the Office and Home. I think you may need to buy two copies of AFPD to run it on two different computers.

You must use the supplied cable or Commander to use it.
You must use the supplied cable or Commander to use it.
Pertaining to my case, will the package included the cable or I have purchase seperately! Kindly indicate which cable? Just want to do it once in single order.
Of course, commander will b included.
Thanks in advance.

I was told that the commander version will not allow you to plug your own TX into the sim, if this is true, then you may very well want to purchase the interface version (not commander) and then purchase the appropriate conenctor plug if your transmitter is one of those that needs it.

IMO it's better to get the commander version. This way you don't have to use your own radio and risk damaging the screen or breaking switches. I had the G2 for 2 years and didn't use my own radio even once.
