Hi,
I would like some recommendations on hardware for AFPD. I would like to keep this box below $800 USD. So far I am interested in these parts,
AMD sempron 3100+
Asus K8N MB
512 DDR memory
Maxtor 160G HD
350-400 watt PS
SB live SC
ATI 9800 pro 128
Cheap case/keyboard/mouse
Not sure about screen yet. Any ideas?
Any on-line vendors to get these items at the lowest prices? Swap meets?
Joe

If you want to keep the price down, stick to the mom and pop online shops. In other words, don't go to Dell, HP or Gateway.
I usually go to the mom and pop shops even for high end stuff since I like the case mods they do (neon lights, see through window) etc...
I'll give you 2 shops to take a look at. Both have been good and they have a nice configurator so you get what you want.

Good luck and let me know if you need help with any tech lingo.

a couple of suggestions....
a smaller hardrive is cheaper and look around for sales
I would go with a nvidia 6600GT agp video card instead of the ati card...the GT is cheaper and is equal to or better in performance
Most motherboards nowadays come with onboard sound that is pretty good...unless you are a audiofile you really don't need a sound card
A good online vendor that has good prices is.... newegg.com

I'll second the Newegg recommendation. I work for a tech company, we often buy from Newegg when we can't get things from our usual channels.
They won't assemble for you, though, you'll just get a lot of parts.

Thanks you guys! Ehart, I look at newegg and they have nice stuff. THey are about 15 miles from me. I bought some great stuff today from mwave.com. My friend is going to put it together for me. I'm stoked. WHen we get it running real good I will order AFPD. I need some monitor recommendations. I prefer LCD.
