Got a phone call about the new Windows Media Edition and AFP. The user told me that it did not work. Since AFP and AFPD were developed before the launch of Windows Media Edition I just assume that it's incompatible.
So ... has anyone run AFP or AFPD on Windows Media Edition successfully?
Please let us know.
Thanks!

I'm running a AFPD on a 4 month-old Dell 8400 with XP Media Center
P4/3.4ghz, 1 gb RAM
GEforce 6800 256 mb PCIe x16
No problems at all running Media Center XP.
I did find that Nvidia has a new driver, specifically for XPMC (71.84), but AFPD worked fine for me using the standard XP drivers that came installed on the computer.

Are you sure we are talking about the same thing? This is the new Windows Media Edition not Media Center. It's a complete new version of XP.
Just making sure.

Well, that may be the case then. I was unaware there was ANOTHER version of XP besides Media Center Edition. It must be so new that MS hasn't had time to list it on it's [link=http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/default.mspx]XP Home[/link] page.
At any rate, Media CENTER Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2 works fine.

Thanks for the info! But this is new Windows 2005 version that is now starting to ship with some store bought computers in BB and CompUSA. More crap to fill up your hard drive.

I am running the new MEDIA edition on my new Dell laptop. The Laptop came on the SAME delivery as AFPD! YOu talk about excited.....I didnt get any sleep for a couple days. Anyway Dion, you wanted to know if there were any problems. I have had ABSOLUTELY ZERO problems running AFPD on my new laptop. Im running:
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
512MB Dual Channel DDR2 ****M at 533MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
Also on a side note. I was unsure of the processor being able to get the full potential out of the video card, especially while NOT being plugged into the wall (i.e. running off internal battery). I had read someplace that Laptops only get about half of their clock speed while running off the battery. Well, not to worry. I can run AFPD (Game Commander version) while riding down the road or out on my patio or where ever WITHOUT being plugged in.
I hope this answers a few ??'s ppl have been asking.
