Default AFP and crashes into TREES

OK, Guys, here's an odd one...

Running original AFP (plus Exp Pack and patch) when my plane crashes into a TREE (specifically) the plane and any detached parts will just hang floating suspended in air until the sim restarts... nothing falls toward the ground...

The plane may lose a part or two or may just bounce back intact and hang there floating (it does still move slightly and controls still move) but the plane and any detached parts do not fall at all... The horizontal stabs are frequently the only parts that might detach... and if so they also hang beside the plane rotating slowly or spinning...

I have verified that this is a phenomenon characteristic of multiple scenery locations, and multiple aircraft, both scenery and aircraft included originally with AFP (or Exp Pk 1) and also those downloaded from web sites of other individuals...

Interestingly, as far as I can determine the "floating" phenomenon is limited to impact with TREES (but including cacti)... So if I run into other tall structures...a mesa, a tall building, smoke stack or tower, pole, power line tower, windmill, tower structure on carrier, etc., the plane crashes "normally" with major and minor parts detaching and all debris falling toward the ground as one would typically expect......

Does anyone else ever recall having seen this type of aberant AFP display? Any idea what could be causing this? In all other respects the AFP program seems to run fine and obviously this is not a real problem but more of a curiosity...

If anyone has any ideas please post them here...

I've never seen it. But then again ... I've never flown into a tree on the sim. :P

NEVER MIND ! ! OK, now I see what's going on here... what I described above is your view when you smack into a tree when you are in the "Follow" view in AFP... The crash and aftermath does appear odd when viewed from this perspective.

When viewing the same impact from the "Fixed" perspective the visual elements make a lot more sense... the plane is not floating it is hanging in the tree (Duhh, just like my real flights!!) and the detatched parts are fluttering very slowly toward the ground... Cool!!

Thanks for yoru response, Dion... great program!!
