I posted this in another post:
I though some of you may be interested in my fps for two nice but very different laptops; both are Dell's, both of them have 1 GB of Ram both have Dual sided DVD/CD burners one is the Inspiron 9200 with Pentium m 2.00 GHz 400 MHz front side bus with a 128 mb ATI Radian Mobil 9700 video card, the other one is a XPS Gen 2 with the new Pentium m 2.14 GHz 533 MHz front side bus with the Nvidia 256 mb GeForce Go Ultra video card.
The frames per second for each computer is dramatic. All test where run with AFPD running at max settings for both computers.
First test: Gym with stock shocky.
i9200
1280 X 1024 Res 66-88 fps.
1920 X 1200 Res 36-44 fps.
XPS Gen 2
1280 X 1024 Res 224-446 fps
1920 X 1920 Res 147-330 fps
Second test: Sparlingfield with Extra 330S with smoke maxed out.
i9200
1280 X 1024 Res 118-161 fps
1920 X 1200 Res 17- 89 fps
XPS Gen 2
1280 X 1024 Res 450-720 fps
1920 X 1200 Res 268-630 fps
In conclusion memory does mater, some will say that those frame rates are a waste but I will disagree, the sim just looks better at those frame rates and not to mention it gives you head room for a later version of AFPD. Although the XPS Gen 2 is a laptop one of the magazines said it is the Number 5 fastest desktop and by far the fastest laptop they have tested. IMO this thing is bad. LeeU

Hello guys,
My PC is equipped with an AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 512 Mb DDR and a Geforce 4 128 Mb.
These are the results for the fps obtained with high texture mode:
I have about 35 fps on 1280*1024 which is obviously not enough: the scenery moves jerky!
I have about 50 fps on 1024*768 which is ok. The indoor scenery moves smooth enough.
Safe Flights!

Guys, I'm back with new rates...
I change synchronisation frequency from 60 to 75 Hz and it goes much better.
I have about 80 fps (varying from 65 to 100 depending on the backscreen).
I cannot run my screen at 75 Hz in a Higher Res. than 1024*768, so I keep that setting.
Ciao tutti.

Try changing your hi res textures to medium res textures (graphics options on the main menu). This could double your frame rate on your 128 MB card (like mine) for the 3d sceneries.
