Default Simulator recordings

Does anyone know how to convert Aerofly Pro deluxe simulator recordings to an mpeg or similar, suitable for uplaoding onto a website.

So far I've tried Fraps and then converting it to mpeg using Studio v7 but quality and more importantly file size lets it down. The base AFP Deluxe files are ~140MB! and cannot be viewed without the AFP software.

Any help would be gratefully received.

The AFPD recordings cannot be converted by file conversion into a mpeg file.

Why? The recording isn't a video file, just a kind of protocol data about your flight.
This is the reason you need AFPD and the scenery and the model to display the recording.

So I'm afraid there are only 2 options:
Take a video of your pc monitor or use software programs like Fraps.

Btw, if your original AFPD recording is 140 MB, it must be a flight of a hour or so?

No the flights are about five minutes long!!! Actually the size is ~12MB (got carried away with the decimal point).

I've used the demo version of Fraps but wondered if other software were available to do the job.

I just found this today and it seems to work pretty good. Give it a try and post some results.

This is the small test I recorded today. I used windows movie maker to convert to windows media. The AVI file that it creates is too big.

After I tested the demo version I purchased it. The demo has the audio recording disabled. For $10, it's not bad at all.
