Don't know if it's been asked before, but is there any way to keep flying after a minor crash?
....Like if I knock a heli landing skid off.
Oh, and how the hell do I set up AFPD with the commander to turn heading hold on and off??
Which channel?
Thanks

Can't answer your second question...
But as for keeping flying after a minor crash, there's no way I know of to tell AFPD NOT to reset after a crash...however, you CAN change the amount of time it waits to do so, and set it up to 1 minute. It's in the options from the file menu while flying.

Actually there is a way to avoid restart after minor crashes.
And if you are a little bit familiar with your pc it is even an easy way.
Open the TMD file with WORDPAD.
Search for sections like this:
cd FuselageRightSkid/
X = tmvector4r( 1.0000, 0.0000, 0.0000, 0 )
Y = tmvector4r( 0.0000, 1.0000, 0.0000, 0 )
Z = tmvector4r( 0.0000, 0.0000, 1.0000, 0 )
R = tmvector4r( 0.0200, 0.0000, 0.0000, 1 )
Mass = 0.1
...
Essential = 1
If you modify essential = 0 there is no reset after crashing this joint.
Of course you can do this for gears on aircrafts as well.
There is always a restart if the propeller or rotor crashes.

I have used this at the Fokker DR1, try to crash one gear and land with the other one.

Does there exist a tutorial or some document that explains the format of an aircraft's .TMD file, to learn how one can modify different parameters in the .TMD to adjust the functionality of the aircraft, such as flaps, gear, control surfaces, etc.?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Luke,
there is no complete documentation of the parameters. This would be a huge task.
But you can check some AFP and AFPD workshops at
www.ipacs-sim.com/test/
www.rodeo.onlinehome.de
They contain information about file structure and at least the basic parameters.

Does anyone know is there's a way to create more aircraft categories (to filter on) in the AFPD aircraft menu? The default setup allows the user to select 'All' to view every aircraft at once, or to filter on different types by selecting 'Planes', 'Helicopters', or 'Gliders'.
Having downloaded quite a lot of extra aircraft, the 'Planes' menu just has an overwhelming amount to choose from. I would really like to be able to add some more specific categories to sort the aircraft on, such as 'Warbird', '3D', etc.
Anyone have an idea whether this is possible, and if so how to do it?
Thanks

I'm afraid there is no way right now.
the categories are calculated from the model type number in the TMD header.
But the selection menu is obviously part of the code, so we cannot modify this.
There is a group tool of Rainer Stein, developed some time ago for AFP.
It allows to define your own categories. But I don't know whether it still works with AFPD.
