I do have 98SE. It appears that it needs a driver to work properly and it asks me to insert my 98SE disk. I do so but have been unable to locate a driver for the USB cable.
It looks like it is looking for a file named "hdiclass.sys" I cant seem to find that file anywhere on my 98SE disk. I assume that it would be located under the driver folder somewhere but I cant seem to find it.
The other thing is that if I look in my device manager there is a problem with my Human Interface Devices. There it states that The NTKERN.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not load the device drivers. (Code 2)
To fix this prolem update the device driver.
I hope that I can get this to work on 98.
Thanks,
Clarke

It will def work on 98 SE, I've supported hundreds of calls on SE, but the biggest problem are the USB issues which is why SE really came out in the first place.
You can find just about any SYS file on Google. http://www.usb-drivers.com/drivers/31/31924.htm

Okay. I seem to have one problem fixed but now there seems to be another one. The program starts up and opens.
Now it just says that it is serching for the interface, please wait. It never seems to find the interface. If I unplug the interface it seems to notice that it is not there but when it is plugged in nothing happens.
Again thanks for any help.....
